Well, we’re finally all settled in at our 2nd campground in Vegas….it’s been a hectic 2 days!
We originally had reservations for the Thousand Trails in Las Vegas and we checked in but immediately didn’t like the feel of of it. Russ nicknamed it ‘Beirut’…the staff was amazing and friendly but it just couldn’t make up for the worn out looks and overcrowded, rundown rigs that pervade the place.
We have some family that flew in for the week so we went to the airport to pick them up. Once we found out they were staying at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino, it didn’t take much for Russ to say “pack up, we’re going to the Sam’s Town KOA!” (his favorite campground in Vegas).
We always enjoy showing people around the area. We went to Hoover Dam, had some of the best homemade pie in the area in Boulder City and then checked out The Strip where we passed, but the group went to see LOVE at the Mirage (amazing show!!).
Today we were thrilled to meet John, as he showed us his new RV (a beautiful Airstream!!!) as well as his business, Silver State K9 (yes, I made 2 new furry friends too 😊). While there, John let Russ relive some of his glory days and work with the dogs for a bit. If you head out to Vegas, contact John – they have a “handler for a day” program, where they teach you all about detection dogs and let you work with them!
